It was only after a discussion with their co-founder

I’m Jeroen from Salesflare and this is Founder Coffee.

Every three weeks, I have coffee with a different founder. We discuss our lives, our passions, what we’ve learned, … in an intimate interview, to get to know the person behind the company.

For this thirty-first episode, I spoke with Omer Molad, co-founder of Vervoe, a leading recruiting solution that lets you hire employees based on their skills rather than their experience.

After his military service in Omer worked in a few start-ups. He then returned switzerland whatsapp number data to Australia, where he lived as a child. He then studied law and worked in large companies in management positions for many years.

It was only after a discussion with their co-founder David that they decided to take the plunge and launch Vervoe. The starting point: a conversation about the fact that the top performers on their teams weren’t the ones with the best CVs.

We talk about his journey from small business to big business, how to focus on the journey step by step, his chaotic schedule, and how he started to trust his team, step away, and hold people accountable.

Welcome to Founder Coffee.

Jeroen: Hello, Omer. It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Founder Coffee.

Omer: Hello, Jeroen. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Jeroen: You are the co-founder of Vervoe. For those who don’t know Vervoe, what do you do?

Omer: Our mission is to make hiring based on merit, not track record. We are a skills assessment platform. That means that instead of companies using things like resumes to decide who to hire, we show them how candidates perform tasks that are relevant to the job. So they can see candidates doing exercises in Excel, or editing a sales pitch, or dealing with a customer, or writing code, or whatever is relevant to the job. That helps them make a decision about who is going to be the best person for the role they are looking to fill.

Jeroen: That’s right. Are the email leads database tests standard or do you also offer custom tests? What is the connection between the two?

Omer: Actually, it’s almost entirely personalized, and we strongly believe that it should be personalized and context-dependent. Because if you think about it, a graphic designer working in, say, a Series A startup and a graphic designer working in a large accounting firm are very different jobs. The skills overlap, but it’s a very different type of environment, with different risk parameters, speed, and people. So we instantly create tailored personalized assessments based on our clients’ requirements for the role.

Jeroen: If I’m not mistaken, you sell this through a SaaS model, right?

Omer: Yes, that’s right. It’s a SaaS delivery model, and  It was only after a discussion  our customers are mostly SMBs and enterprises. Up to a certain price point, we have monthly contracts, but probably 80 to 85% of our revenue is on six to twelve month contracts, usually twelve months. But it’s still SaaS and we charge on a per-hire basis. Typically, companies tell us how many people they need to hire and that’s the main variable we base our pricing on.
